A gang of kidnappers abducted a woman in her late
80's in Ezeagu in Enugu State. They tied
her up naked and left her alone in the thick forest everyday for about a week under
the heavy rain while at night they go back to their homes to sleep comfortably.
They demanded for a ransom of 20,000milllion Naira and after much dialogue between the family and kidnappers they agreed on the sum of 5m Naira which was immediately paid by the family. Expecting a call from them on where to pick their mum and no response, a search and rescue team was organised in which they caught one of the kidnappers named Levinus Ude in Benin who confessed that the old woman died of cold and they buried her in the bush and that's why they didn't contact the family again. It was him who mentioned the rest of the gang members which included one Obiora Chiji and a few others.
All have been arrested and the woman's body that they buried in a shallow grave has been recovered for a befitting burial. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
