A communal clash between Urhobo people of
Aladja and Ijaw of Ogbe-Ijoh communities in Udu and Warri southwest local
government areas of Delta state on Thursday, March 24, has left many injured.
The Nation reports that three persons were fatally
wounded while scores were still after an early morning clash between the
people.
Findings show that the two communities had been
involved in incessant clashes for decades, but it could not be ascertained if
that was the cause of the recent clash.
Speaking about the incident, Richard Koremene
an indigene of Ogbe-Ijoh, told The Nation that three of his kinsmen had been
butchered. He said: “Some Ogbe-Ijoh persons have been injured and tension
is very high now and there is concern that the hostility might escalate.”
